CONINCO attended the traffic opening ceremony of fly-bird-type concrete filled steel tube (CFST) arch bridge Hoang Van Thu – Hai Phong
On the morning of October 15, 2019, in Hai Phong, Hoang Van Thu Bridge officially opened and put it into use. This is a key project of the city, playing an initial role in moving the administrative - political center of the city to Thuy Nguyen district. Consultant and Inspection Joint Stock Company of Construction Technology and Equipment - CONINCO is the leader of the Consultant Consortium for Construction supervision of this category.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Member of the Politburo, the Prime Minister; Le Van Thanh - Member of Party Central Committee, Municipal Party Committee secretary, Chairman of City People's Council, with the head of ministries, departments, agencies, related units and representatives of contractors participating in the project. On the side of CONINCO, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Cong - Chairman of the Board of Management, Mr. Phan Ngoc Cuong - Member of the Board of Management, Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Viet Tinh - Director of Construction Management Center with Supervision team carried out supervision service at the project
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted that Hoang Van Thu Bridge would open opens new space for urban development north of the Cam river. "Hoang Van Thu Bridge is completely designed and constructed by Viet Nam in just over 2 years with a large volume, has opened the technical traffic, and is a great success of the city and related Units. In particular, the bridge has a beautiful and reasonable architecture, the high navigable capacity to ensure good water circulation, and there are calculations for the future development of the city. This is the growth not also of Vietnam's transportation industry but only Hai Phong city.", said the Prime Minister.
The arch bridge has the largest main span in Vietnam
The most striking feature of Hoang Van Thu Bridge is the main bridge with a unique architecture, inspired by the "seabird wings" with the span arrangements of 45 m + 120 m + 45 m, the width of main bridge 33.5m, including 4 motor lanes, 2 mixed lanes, and 2 sidewalks, complete handrail. The bridge has a length of 1570m, navigable width of 125x25m, the design speed of the main bridge is 80km/2, the bridge leading to the south is 40km/h, the bridge leading to the north is 50km/h.
Items include: Main Bridge; 02 branches leading to the south connecting with Hai Phong city; The North approach includes the main branch connecting to the North-South Main Road of the Project; 02 branches leading to the North to connect with the main transport route of the Northern Song Cam project and connect to provincial road 359; Parallel road on the two branches leading to the north and the modern art lighting system. The main bridge is designed in the form of an arch running between 3 spans, of which two boundary spans are reinforced concrete arch structures. The main arch is a steel pipe arched concrete structure. The deck slab is in an assembled form with 300mm thick, linking the assemblies with cast-in-situ wet concrete joints.
Suspension structure: Wire suspension structure: In the form of parallel bundles of 55W7 and 61W7 double-stranded cables, the distance between the two hanging positions is 5m. The arch bracing system uses 08 37T15.2mm bundles for each side of the arch. Bracing cables are installed on the deck slab and are anchored to the horizontal beams at both ends of the bridge. The main pylon is dense with reinforced concrete, on the cross-section including 2 bodies of 5 × 10m pillar body, placed on a bored piles of diameter D1500mm. The thickness of pier footing T12, T13 of the main bridge is 5.0m thick, 2 pillars connecting T11 and T14 is 2.0m thick. Under the pier foundation are bored piles with diameters from 1.2 to 1.5 m, the depth of the pile is about 60m and the amount to the rock is> 9m. Pier footing is made of reinforced concrete with grade 400. The structure of the main steel arch bridge is 200m, steel arch is divided into 5 segments. Factory fabrication requires high accuracy.
The left and right branch bridges of the south have 03 piers (T22, T23, T24) located under the river outside the current edge of the port.
For the first time in Vietnam, successful installation of segments at the site with an accuracy of the only 2mm
At Hoang Van Thu Bridge project, for the first time in Vietnam, the contractors have successfully installed and assembled the span structure which is a 200m-wide Concrete filled tubular steel from 9 segments. It is difficult to process a segment in the factory with high accuracy, but it is more difficult to combine segments on-site with an accuracy of only 2mm.
The supervision and acceptance process of the Project Management Unit, Supervision Consultant and General Contractor have been organized closely and meticulously. After finishing at the factory, the segments will be installed on the site. With the installation conditions on the river with a large installation height, the tide rises and falls by the day, the flow velocity of the Cam River is large so that the construction has encountered many difficulties. The installation was approved in detail with the temporary underwater pier system on the North and South banks as a supporting system to install the 2500 tons jacking system together with the 5000-ton barge system to serve the installation of the arch segment. The 5-ton arch-segment No.5 which is a closure joint of the steel arch system has been accurately and successfully performed, confirming the capacity of domestic contractors in the construction of constructing a steel arch bridge with a large bridge aperture that no bridge has been constructed before with the same scale. The 5-ton arch-burning 5-tonne, which is a long-tail arch of the steel arch system, has been accurately and successfully performed, confirming the capacity of domestic contractors in the construction of the large-arched steel arch bridge. No bridges have been built before with the same scale. That also affirmed the coordination, supervision, and acceptance of the Investor, CONINCO, and related units timely and accurately during the construction process.
After the installation of arch-firing, it is the work to complete the joints, the work of high-pressure pumping floated concrete, and the tension of bracing cables with a great length exceeding the span of 200, the suspension cable of the deck system. These tasks are calculated meticulously and accurately; the construction steps are strictly controlled. Therefore, despite the difficulties in experience and technology, but with the efforts of the Contractor and the Investor units, the consultants have successfully completed the tasks set up to meet the technical requirements and art.
Hoang Van Thu Bridge creates an important highlight in the roadmap for connecting and building the Northern Song Cam New Urban Area as the administrative, political center, and modern and intelligent urban area of Hai Phong.
